Leeds Building Society opens in Canary Islands

The Leeds Building Society, which has had a branch in Gibraltar since 2002, has announced that they are branching out and opening new offices in Spain and the Canary Islands. The Society offers sterling and Euro mortgages to Gibraltarians, UK expatriates and UK residents to buy homes or to arrange refinancing of existing mortgages.

Simon Murphy has been appointed Business Development Manager for the area. He will cover the Costa del Sol, Canary Islands and Gibraltar. He has worked as a Mortgage Business Developer for Langtons Spain (Independent Financial Planners), where his role included giving mortgage advice to expat clients on purchases and remortgages in Spain.
On his appointment Simon said, “I have a successful business development background, enhanced with qualifications and knowledge of financial services.

Monarch Introduce More Flights to Canary Islands

Monarch airlines have announced plans to increase their number of flights from Birmingham and London Luton, both airports are running more services to Tenerife and Lanzarote in the Canary Islands. Demand for travel to the Canary Islands in particular has always been high in winter and Monarch are issuing 15 per cent more seats than last year from Birmingham and 10% from London Luton.”

El Corte Ingles Car Rally

Run over two days, 18th and 19th of April the cars will cover a distance of over 600km over many different types of terrain from mountainous ranges to high-speed dirt tracks and promises to be a treat for all speed freaks everywhere.

Over 100 rally teams are expecting to compete and visitors will have a chance to watch this annual event as well as sample the delights that Gran Canaria has to offer as the race goes through spectacular areas of Tejeda, Vallesco and San Mateo.

Jamiroquai Coming To Canary Islands

After the huge success of the Elton John concert, the next susperstar to grace our shores will be Jamiroquai. They will be performing in the Aguaviva Canarias Festival being held at Estadio de Gran Canaria in Gran Canaria on 13th of June.

On the 14th June the band are in Tenerife to perform at the Estadio Olímpico Antonio Domínguez as part of the same festival.

This is of course separate from the rumours that Alicia Keyes has been approached to perform in the Canary Islands, watch this space!!
