For anyone who is planning a summer holiday, Vodafone are offering UK rates on calls and texts made between June 1st and August 31st 2009.
All you need to do is make sure you are a member of the Vodafone Passport scheme,which is free to join and you will be able to make and receive telephone calls at UK rates with a connection fee of 75p per telephone call or 29p per text. However, this summer, Vodafone have abolished the connection fee.
Even if you are not a Vodafone customer, you can get a free sim card to join the scheme. The only thing you need to check is that you are able to get the Vodafone network wherever you are heading.

It has been announced that French Airline XL Airways are due to launch flights between Paris and Cape Verde starting in October 2009 up to April 2010. The flights, between Paris and Sal will be once a week, every Friday, using a Boeing 737-800 with 189 seats.
The Chairman of XL Airways, Laurent Magnin, has been quoted “Cape Verde is a Winter adventure, to start off with, that we are going to try to extend to the rest of the year.”
The French airline Heliades, which has been operating in Greece, also has plans to play a similar role for the Cape Verdean archipelago.
