It’s time to party. Big Time!! Canary Island Day or Dia de Canarias to be proper, this year is on Friday 30th of May so here we go with yet another Bank Holiday. No promises, but we can be pretty sure it won’t rain, fingers crossed.

Not a time to visit your local DIY stores, but time to get your shorts on and celebrate with the rest of the Island. There is plenty planned, 87 of the local town councils will be involved with traditional food tasting, plays and dancing. Look around and you may well see exhibitions of Lucha Canaria, a typical local sport of wrestling, and stick fighting.

The celebrations go on throughout the weekend so you will be bound to find something that appeals to you even if you just want to see the locals dressed in their finery.
