Karate Classes in Tenerife

For anyone interested in learning the art of Karate, Shotokan Karate-do or Karate Tai-Chi, the good news is that there is an extremely highly qualified, English speaking teacher right here in Tenerife.

Francisco Espinosa, who is Tenerife born, began his training when he was 17 years old, under the instruction of Jeronimo Ruiz Cordero who, at the time was 3rd Dan in Karate.  Espinosa was recognized as the best competitor in the weight under 65 kilograms in the Canary Islands 1972 to 1979, and 5 times Champion in the Juniors and Seniors categories. He was selected to compete in the Spanish National Championships and proclaimed the best sportsman in 1975 and in 1979.

Espinosa moved to the U.K. where he stayed until 2004 and for the period of 26 years he continued to train in Karate this time under the Great Sensei Hirokazu Kanazawa 10th Dan Kancho and Chief Instructor of the Shotokan Karate International. He then opened his own club and taught Karate in Watford, Rickmansworth and Cricklewood London, after 26 years he moved back to the Canary Islands and is teaching again in different parts of Tenerife, passing over to all his students the knowledge that he has accumulated over more than 38 years.

Classes are available at the Aqua Club Termal in Las Americas, and Tacaronte and El Sobradillo in the north of Tenerife.
