August 28th, 2008 by Horizon News

According to a report by Lonely Planet, more parents are now choosing to take their children to Tenerife in the Canary Islands.

Tenerife News reports that a survey of visitors to the island, conducted by Tourism of Tenerife, found that family tourism increased by 18% compared with 2007. Of the families who have visited Tenerife in 2008 so far, 13.3 per cent had a child of 15 or under, an increase of 4.3% compared with 2007.

Meanwhile, it seems that Tenerife has found favours with the Russians, Germans, Danish and Italian holiday-makers all visitor numbers are on the increase.

According to the Lonely Planet travel guide, Tenerife has more to offer holidaymakers than many other Spanish islands, such as Ibiza.

It adds that on Tenerife travellers will find a contrast in landscape between the “barren east coast… (and) lush northwest”, while the “rocky north seems worlds away from the playgrounds of the southwest”.
